Mike Huckabee Says A Ten-Year-Old Rape Victim Should Not Be Allowed An Abortion

Here’s how I see Pro-Choice and Pro-Life:

Pro-Choice means we let women choose what medical procedures they wish to have and, unless we’re in that family, and part of that discussion, literally, we keep our noses out of it.

I’ve often said that if men were the ones who carried the babies there would be no discussion about abortion; it would be legal all day every day; but since it’s women and men like to control women … you get where I’m going.

Pro-Life: sure, these folks care about the unborn — even if these unborn could never survive outside the womb — but then the minute these children are birthed, it’s like, Who? What? Get ‘em off welfare! Pro-lifers seem to care more about unborn children than born children.

Now, let’s talk Mike Huckabee’s idea of Pro-Life: He believes that a 10-year-old Paraguayan girl who was raped by her step-father, should be forced to carry that child to term so that at age eleven she can do what, Mike? Get a job? Raise that kid on her own? Give it up for adoption? Give it to her mamma and step-father/baby daddy/rapist?
"Let's not compound a tragedy by taking yet another life. A 10-year-old girl being raped is horrible. But does it solve a problem by taking the life of an innocent child? And that's really the issue."
Except then Mike insinuates that this ten-year-old, and, in effect, all women who choose abortion because it is their right to do so, would feel guilty after having an abortion.
“When an abortion happens, there are two victims. One is the child; the other is that birth mother who often will go through extraordinary guilt years later when she begins to think through what happened -- with the baby, with her. And again, there are no easy answers here."
I agree, there are no easy answers, but when you take away choice, there are no answers at all. A child who was forcibly raped by a parent is forced to carry and give birth to her child, and to live with that for the rest of her life. A child who did not, could not, decide to have unprotected sex, but was forced into it. A child who has no idea what it means to parent, give birth, raise a child, but, in Huckabee’s world, will now do so because he wants it that way.

That now11-year old girl in Paraguay gave birth to her rapist‘s child recently because she was denied an abortion by Paraguay's authorities, where abortion is banned except in cases where the mother’s life is endangered.

And now what, Pro-Lifers? What do you do with that child now?

I imagine you simply forget about the child and its mother and move on to your next protest …

  1. Hard to think that a 10-yr-old's life might not be in danger.

  2. It is fascinating to see people who are unable to see any flexibility when it comes to allowing abortions, but who find all sorts of flexibility when it comes to permitting nations to wage war, destroy entire cities and cultures. This is not pro-life.

And I won't even bring up Mr. Huckabee's defense of the Duggars concealing the child molestation in their family ...

  3. Taking them off welfare is only the after-effect.

First, they don't want sex education taught in schools. They don't want women (Hobby Lobby and the likes) to get contraception. And well, they want to take away healthcare too. ....and that's all before the rape-baby is born.

Of course, the rapist CAN have a gun. That's their g-d given right!

  5. I always think about what the late, great George Carlin had to say about Pro-Lifers and their so-called "values"

    "If you're pre-born, you're fine. If you're pre-school, you're fucked."

They don't give a damn about these unborn children once they're born, and they certainly don't care about the women (and occasionally as in the above example, children) who are birthing them. How can they have so little compassion for actual living, breathing human beings if they're so "pro-life". And as someone else noted, they have no problem with the death penalty, defunding aid for the poor and disabled, or even contraception which would PREVENT ABORTIONS IN THE FIRST PLACE! Or sex ed. And they'll defend absolutely loathsome parents like the Duggars.

It all makes my blood boil. And it really does feel like a war on women. Some of these people would be way better off living with the Taliban. They share the same kinds of values.

  6. A friend of mine called abortion a "necessary evil". No one likes it, but no one wants to address the enormous costs to the children, mothers and society as a whole, from having millions of unwanted and unloved babies.

  9. In an ideal world every child would be a wanted child whose parents provide a loving home. Reality doesn't work like that, so abortion is a necessity at times. Women should have the right to choose what happens with their bodies and men should not have a veto.

What happened to the father/step grandfather? Was he put inside and the key thrown away? His priest probably told him to say three hail Mary's and then gave him absolution.

  10. I despise how the pro-lifers talk about women. Like they just merrily skip off to an abortion clinic upon finding out they are preggers. And its not until much, much later they realize that they aborted what could have become a baby.

That raped child wasn't requesting to abort a CHILD but a fetus. Not a baby, not a child, a fetus. They keep misnaming fetuses to make it sound like murder. Speaking of murder, its a wonder that child delivered a baby and lived.
