Phil McGraw: ISBL COVIDIOT of the Week #3

During an appearance on Fox News, celebrity psychologist and not a medical doctor, or perhaps even a doctor at all, Phil McGraw made his case for reopening the country even if it kills people.

Even.If.It.Kills.People.

And Phil the second most famous Phil after a Groundhog, says that even though COVID-19 has killed some 40000+ people—so far—the country should open because we didn’t close it down for lung cancers deaths or car crashes or pool drownings.

Huh. He has a point there because you know how contagious lung cancer can be … or how car crashes spread like wildfire when people gather in large groups … or how one pool drowning leads to another and then another and then another.

Phuck off Phil.

Oh, and to his credit, the bald motherfucker then proceeded to cite statistics that were lies … he claimed 45,000 people a year die from automobile accidents, though maybe he rounded up from the CDC figure of 38,659, which is still less than the number of people who died of COVID-19 in five fucking weeks. But then he said, wearing that ridiculous Beverly Hillbillies ‘Aw shucks gee whiz’ grin of his that 360,000 people die each year from accidental swimming pool drownings … a number which is roughly 100 times the actual number who die each year, making it far far less, again, than the 40000+ people who’ve died from this virus since March.

Again, I don’t wish the virus on anyone, but if I did, this snake oil salesman would be top of the list,

Phil McGrAw-Shucks, the ISBL COVIDIOT of the Week.

  8. Someone needs to teach him the meaning of "exponentially contagious" and "preventable death."

  9. He's made money selling snake oil and faux tough love on TV.
Why would anybody pay attention to him when it comes to a pandemic? Oh, wait. It's America.
    Ugh.

    XOXO

  11. I was extremely unimpressed when i caught a snatch of his show with a young seriously depressing teenager. A kid under the age of 18 was having her medical history gleaned over on national TV; absolutely shameful. A proper doctor would never have dreamt of unveiling a child's ID publicly - the Hippocratic oath would surely not allow it?

  12. I am shaking my head this morning, and wondering how so much stupidity can surface at once. The moron in chief suggesting cleaning lungs with bleach or lysol - I am beyond words this morning.

  13. The funny thing is--and I don't mean amusing funny, I mean WTF funny-- is that our local radio station runs public service announcements that's Our Man Phil warning people about Covid-19 and the precautions to take. Does he forget he did the spots? Or not care? (I imagine it's the second.)

  14. I was stunned to hear his rant. Stunned!! How could anyone - ANYONE - have any respect for him at all? More death is okay because, well...death.
