Y’all, we did it! We CAST OUR GODDAMNED VOTE and changed the outlook for this country. Keep that feeling and remember it every election cycle, we can force change when We The People band together and do the right thing like voting for Renee Good and Alex Pretti, for accountability and decency, for healthcare, for immigrants, for the environment , for the future of our kid's, for Democracy, for LGBTQ+ Americans and Americans of color, and for kindness and hope.… and here are some of those changes: Democrat Allison Montgomery becomes the first transgender woman ever elected to the Alabama legislature. Democrat Nancy Lacore, who was fired by DUI hire Pete Hegseth, has won her Congressional seat in Congress and may just be a vote in impeaching Hegseth. Democrat Troy Jackson ended Susan Collins'—that very Concerned Woman—30-year Senate career. Democrat Xavier Becerra won the governorship over a billionaire whose sole interest was billionaires. Democrat Deb Haaland has won New Mexico’s governor’s race, becoming the first Native American woman elected governor of a U.S. state. Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms won the governor’s race in Georgia as the first Black woman elected to that office. Democrat Gina Hinojosa won the goi9vernor’s race in Texas and is the first Latina governor of that state. Democrat Abdul El-Sayed won the race for Senator from Michigan. Democrat Aaron Ford flipped the governorship from Red to Blue in Nevada. Democrat Amy Acton is the first woman governor of Ohio. Democrat Bentley Hudgins is Georgia’s first openly trans and non-binary state legislator. Democrat Dina Nina Martinez-Rutherford is Wisconsin’s first openly trans state lawmaker. Democrat Annie Andrews won the race for Senator from South Carolina for the first time in 38 years. The joke is that Darline Graham gave up her race to honor her brother Miss Lindsey by finishing on the bottom. Democrat Congresswoman Sarah McBride won reelection to the Delaware Senate as an openly trans woman. Democrat Cynthia O Ford won election to SC House District 57. Democrat Chris Pappas made history as the first openly gay man elected to the U.S. Senate where he will represent New Hampshire. Democrat JD Ford becomes the first openly gay person elected to Congress from Indiana. Democrat Becca Balint becomes the first woman and first openly LGBTQ+ member of Congress from Vermont when she wins he third term. Democrat Emily Randall is the first openly LGBTQ+ Latina elected to Congress representing Washington. Democrat Leigh Finke becomes Minnesota’s first openly trans state legislator winning reelection to her third term. Democrat Zooey Zephyr Montana’s first openly trans state legislator won reelection for another term Democrat Jeremy Moss makes History as Michigan’s first openly LGBTQ+ member of Congress. Democrat, and LGBTQ+ Marine Veteran JoAnna Mendoza won election to the Arizona Congress. Democrat DeShanna Neal, Delaware’s first nonbinary expected official, won reelection. Democrat Maura Healy, America’s first openly elected lesbian, won her second term as governor of Massachusetts. Democrat Robert Garcia, the first openly LGBTQ+ immigrant elected to Congress from California, won his third term. Democrat Malcolm Kenyatta, Pennsylvania’s first openly gay Black state legislator, won his fifth term to office. Democrat Ann Johnson, an openly lesbian Texas lawmaker, has won a fourth term in office. Democrat Takano, the first openly gay person of color elected to California’s Congress, won his eight term. Democrat, one of the first Native American women elected to Congress and Kansas’ first openly LGBTQ+ representative, wo/n her fifth term. Lastly … Leon Skum pissed away nearly half a billion dollars in Texas GOP races and won exactly nothing … except maybe a rigorous Congressional investigation to his DOGE crimes. And for the first time since we moved here nearly 19 years ago, the color of South Carolina’s state flag feels appropriate. |

It was all great to see, experience, and get all the diversity in the party. We have all spoke and worked hard to get this. Now this will be all for nothing if they don't all elect new Democratic leadership. No to Jefferies. No to Schumer!!! Neither of them and at times Pelosi did not or wouldn't support or endorse many of these races and they have been proved they can't pick candidates. The party of voters have spoken. New blood, diversity and a new direction and accountability. They are talking like Jefferies is already speaker...and a comment left I read thought he already has 70% support. Big mistake, huge! Either of them are not favored by we voters. So already, the way I see it, they are already not listening to us voters, who handed them great new candidates ready to do great things on a platter....yet we end up with the same old stale, tired leadership. They have a lot to do within our means, by the end of 2027...and if they don't get some of this if, not all accomplished, 2028 will not be pretty again. This will not happen with Jefferies and Schumer at the helm. Unless they prove me wrong.
ReplyDeleteThen, when they are up for reelection, we vote them out.
DeleteI must admit, I had run out of hope. The results are better than anything I could have imagined.
ReplyDeleteSo much better than even I thought possible!!!
DeleteWisconsin Democrats flipped the Senate and the Assembly, and won all of our statewide races.
ReplyDeleteWe elected our first Black governor, our first Latina Secretary of State, and our first Hmong State Treasurer.
A Democrat won Paul Ryan's old Congressional seat.
And that happened all over the country.
DeleteI found it ironic that so many LGBTQ+ PEOPLE, Muslim, Mexican, Black, Indigenous people won as they were all the groups that the right targeted as dangers to America.
We the People said, Nope.
Northern NV flipped off Flippo (R) in that congressional district and elected Democrat Teresa.Benitez-Thompson. All 6 federal congressional reps here are Democrat.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great night!!!
DeleteI saw a reminder that wimpy Susan Collins originally promised to only stay 2 sessions worth of Congress. Obviously she forgot because she was so busy making road salt affordable for Mainers. And of course everyone's "favourite" speaker of the house will stop his lying in January.
ReplyDeleteCollins was the worst kind of politician; a lapdog to Cankles and a blatant liar and grifter.
DeleteI am glad to see a variety of people that will bring new energy, new ideas, new solutions to the table. Lots of work to do and I feel hopeful, Bob.
ReplyDeleteWe need to get to work now, and start fixing this country. And we need to remember how we did this in 2026 and do it again in 2028 and beyond.
DeleteI quickly lost count of all the positives - and that was without including a lot (= most) on your list, most of which I hadn't even known about. Surely one of THE greatest days in American history - now please, everyone and anyone, do NOT spoil it!
ReplyDeleteSo much good news it stunned me, too!
DeleteAn historic win for certain. Let me tell you, I think almost the entire world let out a sigh of relief when the results were being announced. You all showed us what "we the people" can do.
ReplyDeleteWe all stood with each other and our allies around the world, desperate for change and we pulled it off.
DeleteI hope they don't all sit on their laurels now but start working hard to try and regain the respect of the rest of the civilised world.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we'll let them; we hired them to do the work and they'd better do it because we can just as easily vote them out.
Deletethe dog's mother
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
Jamie (jannghi.blogspot.com): California elected its first Hispanic governor. I was glad to see that.
ReplyDeleteAmazing that he's the first!
DeleteWoo hoo! It was a great night! I always liked South Carolina's flag. I laughed at Darline Graham "bottoming."
ReplyDeleteThe flag seems more right today.
DeleteAnd now Darline will go away.
It seriously feels like the country is breathing for the first time in YEARS.
ReplyDeleteThis is a clear show of strength by the people. I have also enjoyed the MAGA meltdowns and the fact that Cankles has not addressed the issue of the Repugs being demolished. He talked about his ballroom and about his pool. Oh and Musk lost more than four hundred million dollars.
XOXO
President Lame Donald Duck got smacked and can't really say anything.
DeleteAnd Leon got hit too, in the bank account and the ego.
xoxo
It's all down to you Bob! By consistently urging readers to "Vote Blue!" and providing endless reasons for doing so, you have changed the course of history. So many great stories emerged on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI did my little part but the rest of America stood up and demanded to be heard. It's a great day in America for a change.
DeleteNow, on to work!
The Dems will have control of every committee in January and will need to exercise their power for legitimate enquiries into the grift and corruption of member s of the current administration. Senator -elect Al-Sayed nailed it saying we need to look for solutions to the problems caused by the GOP via DOGE, correct them and work for the people! Thank you for this lost of all the positivie things that happened Tuesday night, sweetpea! May this all be the start of true reform as swe continue to strive towards a more perfect Union! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI want hearings, of course, and would love to see Hegseth and RFK Measles impeached and removed, but also focus on helping Americans out of the high costs of things, and end some wars, and arrest the grifters.
Deletexoxo
I hope the Dems remember that they CAN walk and shew gum at the same time! xoxo
DeleteI thought of you Bob when I saw that Dr. Annie Andrews won the SC senate race. Your list of all of the “firsts” gives me hope that we have potentially turned a corner. I was losing hope. And now I have that hope back.
ReplyDeleteSo many firsts and most of those firsts were the people the right loved to demonize. We shot that down!
DeleteAI, data centers and flock cameras are in for a drubbing, as is ICE. No decent American desires or wants a police state or big brother surveillance state where freedom dies and innocents are murdered in cold blood.
ReplyDeleteThree races are yet to be called in Alaska, Colorado and Mississippi.
I’m pulling for Peltola in the Alaska and Colom in the Mississippi senate races.
In Colorado, Boebert may be defeated by Laubacher, that would be the icing on the cake !
-Rj
Mississippi is soclose but fingers crossed Colom pulls it off.
DeletePoor Gropert. but now she'll have time to go to her son's criminal trials.
That South Carolina Senate flip after nearly four decades is nothing short of a political earthquake! Watching decency, equity, and historic representation triumph over big-money posturing feels so extraordinarily good. Cheers to you and Carlos—what an unforgettable day to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteI'd hoped SC would go Blue and here we are, and it's amazing. And the rest of the country too!
DeleteWe the People did this.
Congratulations on a hard-fought, well-deserved win! Savour the victory, enjoy a little schadenfreude, but don't rest on your laurels or all may be lost again in 2028.
ReplyDeleteWe now hold our newly elected and reelected members of Congress to the task of fixing the economy, ending that war, ending ICEstapo, and punishing the grifters and thieves in the White House.
DeleteYou forgot Rob Sand, the former international model who walked the runways in Paris and Milan for Prada, who's now the governor of Iowa.
ReplyDeleteOh I missed many because of the Blu-nami!
DeleteThat's your state flag? I love it! Love that long, long list of hope and decency too.
ReplyDeleteThat's the state flag!
DeleteI never thought I'd see so much blue. Although floriduh remains red, I'm not upset because the gubernatorial and senate races were so close. That's a big step in the left direction. I'm thrilled for Texas and Georgia, and for so many individuals.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
There were some good wins in Flori-duh, and the races were thisclose.
Deletexoxo
Shame on the Dem establishment for ignoring candidates in Florida, we would have had additional wins. Next time we will !
DeleteRex in DC
Now it is time to get down to work in DC, and every state capital.
