The House of Two Dreams, in Merida, Mexico, consists of three main blocks. The first block consists of the three original bays; the first being the foyer and the carport. The second bay consists of a TV room, laundry, a full bathroom, an outdoor shower and a small interior patio. In the third bay is another sitting area as well as a bedroom.
Between the first and second blocks is a central courtyard with a glass ceiling and concrete curved stairway with iron railings that lead to the second-floor office and primary suite. In the next block, you’ll find the kitchen, dining room, and guest bathroom. There is also access to the covered patio and outdoor kitchen and dining area.
Between the second and third block is an enclosed garden with pool area and a small garden, before you arrive at the last block featuring two more en suite bedrooms. Upstairs, over the main house, the primary bedroom has access to a balcony with a small tub, a full bathroom as well as a home office connected to the main room by a bridge through the central courtyard.
I adore Merida, and could easily live there in a house like this, perhaps a bit smaller?
In spite of there being so much white, I could easily live there with four or five dogs.
ReplyDeleteI love this style of home ... even the white.
DeleteVery nice. Yep. I could live there, especially with that pool.
ReplyDeleteNot a big pool but perfect for a hot summer day!
DeleteVery nice! I especially love the tile work.
ReplyDeleteI love Mexican tiles! So colorful.
DeleteYesss, Yesss, Yessss! I'll have one of those. I understand retirement visas are fairly easy to get in Mexico.
ReplyDeleteI keep talking to Carlos about us retiring there .... we'll see.
DeleteThe tile work is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteSince it is Thanksgiving tomorrow, Bob, I want to say that I am thankful for your blog. I enjoy your daily themes and you always have so many interesting, thoughful posts to share. Thanks so much! xo
Thanks Ellen, I appreciate that! 🦃🦃🦃🦃
DeleteI’ll take it!!!
ReplyDeleteI sense a fight brewing over who gets this one!
DeleteBreathtaking. How graceful. What a way to live. Some of the furnishings strike me as old and wrong... but... wow, what a way to live. Yes, please. I have a friend who spends all winter in Mexico. He says its so easy to live there (if you have a little money - it goes further down there).
ReplyDeleteI agree that the furnishings aren't quite right, but that's an easy fix. And, yes, money goes further there!
DeleteBeautiful, homely and so Mexican - though I have never been to Mexico so how should I know?
ReplyDeleteIt is a typical Mexican Colonial house, and i love that style; not too big, but there's usually a courtyard with a pool which i love!
DeleteThe tile work is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI love those tiles, too!
DeleteI love the floorplan and how everything is laid out---I love the details of the home and the choices---The one thing that seems concerning to me is LIGHT---The pictures show a lot of shadows--- It looks dark---Maybe it's the photography---I need more natural light---I need to see it in person---The good news is the beech is about 40 minutes North of the city----Good idea for a day trip---
ReplyDeleteWell, there are few windows on the sides as there are houses on both sides; so skylights and interior windows are used.
DeleteIt's very cool, and I love the tile and the courtyard, but it does sound like a lot of house.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good size home; I'd like one similar but perhaps just two bedrooms, maybe three!
Delete🤪 OK, I'll admit it! I was confused by the three blocks and bays referenced in the first paragraph accompanying the photo of doors on the front of the place. My troubled brain said, "whuh? I gotta go out on the street to get to another block of my house?!" My idiocy was brief, but it was long enough to panic about how my neighbors would react to my usual appearance at home!! 😳😲😱 Other than that, I loved the Mediterranean look of the place!! 😍🤩😎 Happy Thanksgiving!!
ReplyDeleteTheir descriptions were kind of confusing, so I kept going back to the floorplan to see what they meant!
DeleteHappy Turkey Day to you and yours1

The staircase and pool are gorgeous! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
ReplyDeleteI like those stairs and the skylights above!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving.
Sure, if I must live there, I guess it would be OK, sweetpea! *winking* Seriously, the illustration was a bit confusing, but the photos are really stunning. xoxo (Happy Thanksgiving to you, Carlos, and the Kitty Krewe!)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and MITM and the whole family!

BAM!!!!! THIS HAS MY NAME ALL OVER IT!!!!!! I wouldn't change a thing structurally...cosmetically or even the furnishings. I mean...queen, the staircase alone had me salivating.
ReplyDeleteAnd the kitchen and floor left me speechless!!!!!!
DeleteI'd do some new furnishings, couches and chairs, but other than that, I am also sold!
DeleteI like all the beautiful wood! I'm happy the kitchen doesn't have the damn white cabinets like every other kitchen these days. I think I can live there with Princess and Penelope. I'm sure Princess would love the pool.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Oh, Princess would live for the pool!!!

I like it and what a staircase! The last bathroom shown looks a little worn.
ReplyDeleteI think it's tile in that bathroom that looks discolored ..
DeleteI like this one very much.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteJust the character would lead me to stay. Love the distribution, too. And a pool?
Love!
