Architecture Wednesday: Modern Farmhouse

Last week was Ancient Chinese Reno, and this week is brand spanking New York state farmhouse realness in over 12,000 square feet—yes, twelve thousand—on over 250 acres. All that space in all that space.

It’s rustic and chic and colorful—have you ever seen such wallpapers—with tall ceilings and wide porches for great views and outdoor living spaces. There are bedrooms—at least six—and bathrooms—I think eightplus a bunk room for any of y’all that feel like, um, bunkin’.

And there are living rooms and dens and basements and sunrooms and porches and nooks.

Oh.My. And to think the clients call this their weekend getaway. Must be planning for a 365-day weekend.

  2. Yep, this one has sold me! The exterior especially. The interior has me nailed. I love interior that have a modern clean feel like this, but don't feel clinical and cold...that's too modern.

Also Warbucks is looking into that place in bucks county I sent info on to you. Yep, still for sale. But with the current climate I don't know when he'll have the time to even come look at.. I told him to just purchase it and I'll move in!!!!!

  3. Waaaaay to big!!
My SIL and BIL live in a
    real Idaho farmhouse.
    They had 4 girls and
    managed with one bathroom!
    Enjoyable tour as always.

  4. why would anyone need a house this huge? I DO like that glass-walled shower though in the last pix. reminds me of an old-fashioned telephone booth.

  5. Now this one I like from top to bottom, inside and outside and all around! Does it come with maid service? And butlers? And window washers? And floor polishers? And medics for those times when one slips on the polished floors?

  6. Far too neutral. The size doesn't bother me (hhmph), but there's no life there.

  7. I like the interior very much.
    Crisp and uncluttered.
The exterior is a little meh but it'd do if it weren't so HUGE.
    Darn.

    XOXO

  8. I don't know precisely why, but this one completely turned me off. Grand, tasteful, light... it's got so much going for it. But there's just something about the whole thing...

Some folks just have too much money. It has a Christmas/winter feel to me. Nice! Who needs this big ass of a house for a WEEKEND. How many kids do you have? Even so. We are only going to be here for a few days. What is the cost-benefit ratio? Maybe we can rent this sucker out for a few families at a time.
