Well, they say good things come in small packages, and this modest Cornish cottage proves that to be true. Listed for a hair over $275,000USD this Newquay maisonette is reworked from a historic forge and yet still manages to pack in loads of light and loftiness in its compact floorplate. Beyond the Cornish stone façade, the cottage features a double-height open plan shared by a clever plywood kitchen, sky-lit lounge, and bathroom; the whitewashed main floor leads up a sandy-colored timber staircase to a mezzanine bedroom with cork flooring, wide and tall enough to sleep two. No, the front door has a glass pane at the top half; you can see the door from the inside looking into the living room from the kitchen.

🥺 Hubby and I have no fear of small (even tiny) homes and we were full-time RVers for 5 years. But, this house is such an odd little creature I don't know what to think! There is zero curb appeal and it interrupts the flow of the buildings and rowhouses nearby. Maybe it's the sudden whiteness! I like the interior, but this poor baby needs some love and color and better furnishings! If I had the money, I would buy it just to give it a hug-flip and better prepare for someone else to provide the forever love it needs! 🤗

DeleteNow this is more me for sure. Who needs all this space, after all you can't take it with you when you're gone. I find the place very charming and quaint although I would have to add a tinge of color but not too much as it would make the space feel smaller. And I love the word you came up with maisonette!!!!! Places like this have so much more character.

DeleteNow I love a small space if laid out right. This is not it. I would need more storage and a better closet in the bedroom/loft. The downstairs living area feels claustrophobic. Where in the hell am I going to put my 7-foot Christmas tree. Is that plywood as a backsplash behind the cooktop? Also, can the facade blend in with the surrounding homes? I know the neighbors are talking. Ok, maybe for a weekend getaway or a longer holiday. The upside is that Cornish is Southwest of London. Five hours by car and 10 hours by train. Road trip??

DeleteI find this charming and fun, and I like the fact that it’s not another mansion. And angled ceiling like that is dangerous at my height. Maybe as a holiday rental though. I find the exterior downright weird. They could have done a better job staging. Those plants!

It's practically in the street! It's cute but not something I'd want. Too much white and beige. It needs color.

Cosy it is but it would be fine for a couple or as a holiday place, and it is one I could afford. It is too white for me and too stark, so some decorating would be required. Surf beach = surfers 😅

DeleteWay too white for me and there doesn't seem to be enough space to put all the paraphernalia that goes with having a cat.
