Raphael Warnock, Democrat Senator from Georgia, on SCOTUS’
dismantling of the Voting Rights Act:
“The Voting Rights Act of 1965 is the crown jewel of the
Civil Rights movement. Without it, I quite literally would not be standing here
today in front of you as a voice in the United States Senate for the people of
Georgia. This [Cankles] Supreme Court just threw out the protections that were
earned by the Civil Rights movement, those who bled, who fought and who died,
so that people might have a voice.”
Okay, for those of you who don’t think we need a Voting
Rights Act any longer in America I have one simple question to ask you:
Would you want to be Black in America today? Or treated like a Black American? Given all we
know about the way people of color are still treated in the United States,
would you want to be Black?
And that’s why we need the Voting Rights Act, why we need to
elect Democrats, why we need term limits on the court, why we need equality for
all Americans.

SCOTUS serves the racists now.
ReplyDeleteThe voting rights act is allowing the MAGAts to rig the elections they know they’ll lose. It’s very simple. Cankles attack on the pope is on brand but seriously!
XOXO
I don't doubt that the Supreme Court's decision was grounded on pure racism. I also suspect that, like so many racists, they believe that vast numbers of white Americans are just like them. That belief is so incredibly wrong, but then conservatives themselves are inherently flawed and broken people.
ReplyDeleteKnowing that their lilly-white asses are going to be the minority scares the absolute shit out of them, BECAUSE they are very much aware of how people of color are treated. Thus, they will do everything in their power to remain the Overseers.
ReplyDeleteThis SCOTUS majority and its dismantling of American democracy will live in infamy. As a lawyer, it disgusts me.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with SCOTUS? Is it not there to uphold the law?

Bob, you are firing on all cylinders today. That quote from Raphael Warnock says it all—the Voting Rights Act wasn't just a piece of paper; it was bought with blood, and watching this Court dismantle it is gut-wrenching. You hit the nail on the head with that question: would anyone actually choose to be treated the way Black Americans are still treated today? The hypocrisy is deafening, and I love your take on the 'trash heap' of history
ReplyDeleteMore frightening than Cankles himself.
ReplyDeleteThe Gang of Six keep making the court un-Supreme as they pervert the Constitution.
ReplyDeleteAs for Pope Leo, like Pope Francis, his worst enemy will not be the anti-Catholics, it will be the fascoid conservative Catholics who act like agents of the anti-Christ. They talk in tongues that are forked.

The SCOTUS 6's rulings are reprehensible to the Nth degree. What's next? Disenfranchisement of women? Reinstatement of Jim Crow laws? Perhaps they should remember that the Nuremburg trials prosecuted judges too.
ReplyDeleteI believe there is a slogan from 1768 that said "No taxation without representation". Maybe the black population of America should stop paying taxes until they have voting rights, again.
ReplyDeleteI hope they lose the midterms anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe shitshow continues to get shittier. All I can think is, it is going to take a major shift in voting patterns for the US to get back to a sliver of its former self.
ReplyDeleteThis is horrifying news. How Dare He?? We might as well declare America dead at this point. After he kicks the bucket it's going to take years to undo all the wrongs he and his minions have done.
