As usual, another great set of cartoons. These political cartoonists really have their fingers on the pulse but my favourite was the Michael de Adder one. I love his unique style of drawing and the bitter truths he reveals.
🥺 It is really hard to laugh these days. I don't live in El Paso anymore. I live in the designated military zone patrolled by soldiers from Ft. Bliss. Trump "declared" (without actual legal authority) this week that military troops will be in charge of detaining migrants at the border. That is itself a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act which does not allow the military to act as law enforcement on US soil. So, Trump turned El Paso into a military base with no defined boundary! The heavily-armed troops roam the border in intimidating Stryker vehicles. I live a quarter-mile from what used to be the border (looking at it from my balcony right now!) which means I am now trespassing on Ft. Bliss!! These troops have the added authority over "crowd control." So, if I protest this incursion of troops with my next door neighbors, on our balconies, I'll soon be on my way out of the country as a "homegrown" national security threat! This is not hyperbole! I live in a "police state" and so do you!! 🤬
At one time, the menace was laughable and the hope was he wouldn’t get away with all his crimes. Now, it’s downright frightening. The image of him in that prison cell is my dream.

ReplyDeleteTrump is so hated, he is losing elections in other countries.
ReplyDeleteIt's becoming less amusing day by day, sadly.
ReplyDeletethe dog's mother
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
It's funny, the Editorial cartoonists have more balls and backbones than the writers of the newspapers.
ReplyDeleteMy faves: Lyngstad, Lukovich, Duquette. Not necessarily in that order.
ReplyDeleteIf only deAdder's cartoon was reality. I agree with Leanna, these people are ahead of the curve.
ReplyDeleteMichael de Adder's rapier-like wit is brilliant!

ReplyDeleteI don't know what frightens me more, The Felon in office, or the Trump party that lets him do it.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha, the criminal in the El Salvador prison cell, got what he said he wanted.
ReplyDeleteNumber Two!!! LOL.
