Gone Again ....

My Dad has taken a turn for the worse, and I am headed out to Oregon for the next week or so. He is being checked into hospice so we're not exactly sure how much time is left.

  5. I tell people that times like this show how broad our shoulders can be, and it's nice to see that yours are very broad.

  8. I'd say his next step is palliative care at this point. It's what my dad had after checking himself into hospital when he couldn't keep food down, or even liquids. He lasted about three weeks.
Stay strong and just talk to him as much as you can, let him talk to you too. The two-way connection is needed now.

  20. Hospice will take the best care of your Dad and, you know, your Dad is doing it his way! Say the things that need to be said and laugh as much as possible! Let him leave with no regrets and the same goes for you!

  23. You're a good son. You'd berate yourself forever if you weren't there for him as his time ebbs away.

  24. May you be sustained through this tender time with the knowledge that you, your father, and your family are held in the thoughts of many both seen and unseen.

    Be present and listen.

    Be well and travelling mercies.

May your father's passing be comfortable and peaceful. Remember to talk to him even when he no longer responds. Hearing is the last sence to go.

Peace be with you and your family
