Hakeem Jeffries, House Democratic Minority Leader,
before officially handing McCarthy the Speaker’s gavel, giving the speech
of the week:
“We will never compromise our principles, House Democrats
will always put American values over autocracy, benevolence over bigotry, the
Constitution over the cult, democracy over demagogues, economic opportunity
over extremism, freedom over fascism, governing over gaslighting, hopefulness
over hatred, inclusion over isolation, justice over judicial overreach,
knowledge over kangaroo courts, liberty over limitation, maturity over
Mar-a-Lago, normalcy over negativity, opportunity over obstruction, people over
politics, quality of life issues over QAnon, reason over racism, substance over
slander, triumph over tyranny, understanding over ugliness, voting rights over
voter suppression, working families over the well-connected, xenial over xenophobia,
‘Yes we can’ over ‘You can do it,’ and zealous representation over zero-sum
confrontation. “We are a gorgeous mosaic of people from throughout the world,”
he continued. “As John Lewis would sometimes remind us on this floor, ‘We may
have come over on different ships, but we’re all in the same boat now.' We are
white, we are black, we are Latino, we are Asian, we are Native
American, we are Christian, we are Jewish, we are Muslim, we are Hindu, we
are religious, we are secular. We are gay, we are straight, we
are young, we are older, we are women, we are men, we are
citizens, we are dreamers. Out of many, we are one. That’s what makes
America a great country. And no matter what kind of haters are trying
to divide us, we’re not going to let anyone take that away from us. Not
now. Not ever.”
What a way to start his tenure as Minority Leader, with that
kind of speech. Wouldn’t a Buttigieg/Jeffries, or a Jeffries/Buttigieg team be
a great combo? Common sense, take no prisoners, truth to power?

Nancy Mace is also the 20 watt bulb who complained that Republicans learned nothing from the midterms in regard to American women's viewpoints on abortion, and then voted with the anti-abortion bills the Republicans put on the floor.
ReplyDeleteI pay little attention to how Mace votes because that's no surprise, but I like that she speaks out about the GOP and their issues.
Delete(Pete Buttigieg) (Hakeem Jeffries)
ReplyDeleteYup, either way would be great!
xoxo :-)
Winning team!

Nancy Mace seems to talk common sense, but when it comes around to voting she always toes the Republican line, no matter how crazy it is.
ReplyDeleteMace talks moderate and votes Republican.
DeleteShould be a fascinating season of what one can only consider a sh*t show.
ReplyDeleteThe GOP House seems to forget that bills also go through the Senate and then to the President who may very well veto them. Their power isn't so strong.
DeleteHakeem Jeffries has a clever speech writer; I love the bit "maturity over Mar-a-lago" - there is certainly no maturity anywhere around there. Maybe Barron will provide some when he grows up, but somehow, given his parents, I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteJeffries speech really marked the difference between the GOP and the Dems; not a good look for the GOP.
DeleteOhhh Pete and Hakeem are part of the future of the Dem party. People are going to stop and take notice. Gaetz is a pervy tool. Can't wait until the shit hits the fan and it covers him.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
I need Gaetz to go down in epic flames.
DeleteNancy is such a wishy washy person....but then most of them know how they want to vote or say....but then do another thing.
ReplyDeleteAnd Pete! Pete for President damn it!!!!!!!
Yes and YESSSSSSSSSSSS!
DeleteThese tough-talking republicans like Nancy Mace, ooooh. Let's see more than talk. Has she come through yet?
ReplyDeleteButtigieg and Jeffries. If only they had a chance of getting anything done with the idiots across the aisle.
Mace still panders to the GOP even though she pretends to be a moderate.
DeleteI need Pete in the Oval, with Jeffries by his side.
I'm excited about Pete For President. I don't know enough about Jeffries yet, but that was a great speech.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I think they both speak the truth without any fuss. Common sense!

Jeffries will be speaker in 2025
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking he might go higher.
DeleteI wanted Buttigieg for President in the primaries. And still do!
ReplyDeleteMe, too!
