Rob Halford, Judas Priest frontman, on marrying his
now-husband Thomas after more than three decades together:
“I’d given up
asking when, suddenly on one of our night walks, [Thomas] goes, ‘I think we
should get married.’ It was a very simple ceremony. Obviously, me and him, and
an officiant. There were just four of us around the pool, around the cactus,
the heavy metal cactus. And it was over in an instant. But it was just a
beautiful, simple ceremony. It seems like you’ve completed something in your
relationship [being married]. More than anything else, the commitment goes to
another level when you get married. It’s a great thing to do. And if it doesn’t
work, that’s life. But I think after being together for 35 years, it’s working.
America is still incredibly homophobic. I’ve lived here for a long time and
I’ve seen a lot happen since the ’80s, and it really gets me angry and upset.”
While the 74-year-old English musician — who came out
publicly in 1988 — seems to be enjoying wedded bliss, he also expressed dismay
at the lack of progress in LGBTQ+ acceptance in the heavy metal scene. Asked
whether attitudes toward sexuality have changed over the years, Halford, who
splits his time between the U.S. and the U.K., said that it depends on where
you are.

Halford's a survivor! Kinzinger rocks. And Cho didn't go far enough, Mace loves the attention her hate garners, she's an attention whore and nothing is too despicable, or out of bounds for her. And Hiller's win was amazing! Everyone stood up! So much support is simply amazing!
ReplyDeleteAll good stuff.
DeleteThe problem with going low is that it encourages the "enemy", whether within or without, to go down the low road too. Taking the high road may get you to Scotland before those going low, but it's better for the world for us all to take the high road.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to be that country where our leaders sole concern is punishing others. What good does that do for any of us?
DeleteGustavo Petro is so correct about the wrongfulness of the US government in seeking to control who can and who cannot attend meetings of the U.N. General Assembly. In the meantime, #47 hosts Netanyahu as if he was his best buddy - the same guy who for fear of arrest cannot visit most other countries.
ReplyDeleteCankles and Bibi are cut from the same cloth.
Deleteand little bitty Putin from the scraps of that same cloth.
DeletePeople around the world see Cankles fur the demented failure that he is. And many are voicing their outrage.
ReplyDeleteKinzinger and Swalwell are always on point, BTW. As is Margaret.
I have to post about Jeff!
XOXO
It was so nice to see the genuine joy that his fellow nominees showed when Hiller won; gives me faith in humanity.
DeleteSwalwell is only partially correct. The biggest thing that needs to happen (should the Dems win back the House, Senate, Oval) is close the damn holes The Felon's crime regime have used. In fact, those pieces of legislation should already be written and just waiting for the right time to be introduced. ... See, kind of like the Repugs have done with Project 2025.
ReplyDeleteWe need a Project 2029 that puts the country back together and then start enshrining a woman's right to choose, and same-sex marriage into law so they cannot be done by the whims of a few.
DeleteExactly that!
DeleteSo many important statements and people to acknowledge here, I know. But I would simply like to congratulate Jeff Hiller and to send him my thanks!
ReplyDeleteHe was so happy and pleased when he won; it was a lovely moment.
DeleteOff-topic, sorta:
ReplyDelete🤬 So Corey Lewandowski* stopped shtupping 🤮 Kristi Noem just long enough to threaten fans of Bad Bunny that they will be subject to roundup by Dictator Trump's Imperial Guard at next year's Super Bowl!! I am a fan of Bad Bunny, but I imagine that being a 71 y.o. bleach-white female US citizen means I'm safe. 👵
I'm also safe because I can't afford the average price of $9,500 for a ticket to the game!! I think any undocumented immigrant who has that kind of scratch and wants to attend should be congratulated on their hard work toward the American Dream and be welcomed into the stadium! 💪
🤬 Lewandowski and Noem, though, will spend hundreds of thousands to make a giant ugly show of force to scare all the non-attending immigrants! Wasteful and stupid! 🤬🤬
*Lewandowski periodically gets kicked to the curb by Trumpworld because he is a liability! He assaulted a female reporter, sexually harassed staffers, was caught in an affair with Noem, embezzled money, illegally applied for and misused money from COVID aid funds, and openly claimed mental health issues as a defense! But now that he is back in Noem's saddle (so to speak 🤣), he gets to become a new liability! Hooray for Trumpworld!! 🥳
Lewandowski and Border Barbie are the epitome of the regime, liars, cheaters, grifters.
DeleteI agree with Eric Sewell's idea. But anymore in this country I don't know if anybody is independent and bipartisan enough to be on such a committee.
ReplyDeleteAnd that was a mic drop from Margaret! I agree I can't stand that bitch from the South either. Of course Adam Kinzinger always makes sense.
And I don't want to punish the other side because then we become a country where nothing gets done other than punishing the opponents.
DeleteWorf FOR the people for a change.
It's good to see people both inside and outside the USA speaking up.
ReplyDeleteEvery little bit helps.
Deletethe dog's mother
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
Yes! Margaret Cho for the win! Adam Kinzinger is the kind of Republican that I could see myself supporting, but of course there are hardly any like him.
ReplyDeleteKinzinger is that rare breed who puts country over party!
DeleteI am also not familiar with Jeff Hiller or his show. Margaret Cho always tells it like it is!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I understand Eric Swalwell's point, but I'm wary of getting into a situation where every time the administration changes there's a period of retribution and reversal. We're already in that zone and it wastes resources and creates bad legal precedents, not to mention ill feeling. Of course we need to reverse Trump's outlandish bullshit but perhaps we can do it without prosecuting his supporters.
DeleteI agree 100% about politics being all about retribution. Now, if some in Congress or the White or SCOTUS have committed crimes, then by all means investigate.
DeleteUN headquarters is in New York? Shouldn't it be somewhere neutral? Like Switzerland? I forgot everything else I was going to say.
ReplyDeleteThe UN has been in New York forever but is considered neutral ground because it's extraterritorial; it operates under UN administration rather than direct U.S. governance, but still acknowledges U.S. laws in exchange for services.
