At the heart of this former chapel loft in London soaring ceilings nearly twenty feet high frame four elegant arched sash windows, flooding the interior with south-facing natural light. The custom-made kitchen is complemented by custom joinery throughout; there is resin flooring with underfloor heating and exposed brickwork, balancing industrial textures with a refined, polished aesthetic.
A folded iron staircase, acting as a striking architectural feature, leads to the mezzanine level, which overlooks the main living area. This elevated space functions as an additional living area or second bedroom, making it ideal for guests or flexible use. A second floating staircase leads to the principal suite, a calm and light-filled retreat with Scandi-inspired interiors. A frosted window subtly diffuses natural light, creating a tranquil atmosphere, while a floating fireplace offers a cozy, intimate feel, along with the custom cabinetry in white ash. The bathroom continues this thoughtful design approach, combining custom woodwork, a roll-top bath, and a walk-in shower, all designed with a meticulous eye for detail. Not a huge space, but elegant and refined and rustic and from another era. As always, click to emBIGGERate ...

Now this is what I'm talking about!!!!!! Style, chic, yet, urban and relaxed, yet feels elegant. I love it alone for the windows, the slatted ceiling and the staircase!!!! It's all the space I need. Nice floorplan. And if they wanted to throw in the green velvet sofa, I have no objections!!!! And I think the closet system should just about house my wardrobe.....but the Mistress's? lol
ReplyDeleteSo we need more closet space???
DeleteSo tasteful! I just had a feeling Maddie would like it.
ReplyDeleteMaddie could make quite the entrance down those stairs!
DeleteThis is rather awesome. I'm totally digging the underside of the loft over the kitchen. And the shelf / towel bar in the bathroom is pretty ingenious. Yep, I like it. And the ghost would be cool, too!
ReplyDeleteMy quibble is the one bathroom down the stairs and across the loft from my bedroom at 4AM???
DeleteThat would not be convenient, for sure. Might I suggest a Chamberpot? LOL!
Delete🥰 I love it! Just one question: is that guy in the photos willing to stay and help me get up off the bed (floor) every morning? Ouch! 😆
ReplyDelete[ 0 days of peace in Gaza since "Mission Accomplished" was declared on 10-13-25! 🤬]
I think he may come with the place.
DeleteNo peace as long as Cankles and Bibi are in power.
I love the stairs. It is a good thing there are nice stairs because there are no bathrooms on the levels with the bedrooms. I would finish the kitchen with upper cabinets, and get rid of the rusty bathtub, and add some color. Naw, I would keep looking.
ReplyDeleteThe bathroom thing got me, too!
DeleteI would need a bathroom closer to the bedroom.
ReplyDeleteLikewise; I see myself falling down those stairs!
DeleteElegant and spacious, but the mezzanine would have to be redone.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the loftiness of that space ... though I need a bathroom up there, somewhere???
DeleteVery modern and sleek and for a change I like that.
ReplyDeleteThe bedroom above the kitchen is a wee bit bothersome. I'm imagining kitchen odors permeating the space.
I didn't think of that, but a good exhaust fan might help?
Deletethe dog's mother
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
OK, I had to look this place up on Google Street View. What Dwell doesn't tell you is that there's an architecturally bleak council house across the street. Not a great view for a million pounds, but I guess you can't have everything. (Street View also has pictures of it in mid-renovation!)
ReplyDeleteTear down that council house!!!!
DeleteThough it is the best looking house on the block!
Absolutely not.
ReplyDeleteToo much style or white or stairs???
DeleteNope
ReplyDeleteI could have the ghost bring you soup, or high tea?
DeletePerfect!! The square footage is great. You had me at the windows. The light! Love the space! The closet is perfect for all my stuff. I hate clutter. Love how the wood panel slides across the window. I would use the mezzanine space as a flexible space for overnight guests and an office/television room. I can't see everything, but I need a shower. I don't want to hold anything. A good combo would be nice becasee I love the claw foot tub. The kitchen is just right. I do not care for kitchens that can hold 10 people. For me, it has to function and flow right. That does not mean it has to be huge and store pots, pans, dishes, and foodstuffs for a family of 20. Let me call my money guy. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI also like that it isn't huge.
DeleteNot a place I’d enjoy at this time, but when I was single, I would have loved it. Just for the windows alone!
ReplyDeleteI agree, the windows are wonderful.
DeleteThat was me talking about just the windows alone.
ReplyDeleteAnd picture Dufo and Moose sitting in those windows or tearing up and down the stairs!
DeleteThis is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteOf course you had me at 'chapel loft'.
The idea is great and the distribution is very balanced. Love the colors and the idea of negative space as a main point. Very spacious. I want that bathroom. And the bedroom. And the living room.
XOXO
I have a thing with one bathroom ... I picture me asleep in the loft and then needing a 4AM bathroom run and going head or heels down those stairs ...
Deletexoxo
I'm not a great lover of modern but it fits so well with the architecture doesn't it. Beautifully done (and I'm sure it costs a pretty penny too)!
ReplyDeleteI find that I really like modern when it's mix with historic spaces.
