But what I didn't know was that the wingnut COO of McDonald's, one Donald Thompson, would say that the commercial wouldn't air here because he's a Christian.

Don Thompson, McDonald's COO:
It is an example that markets, cultures are very different around the world. (For instance), I've never shied away from the fact that I'm a Christian. I have my own personal beliefs and I don't impose those on anybody else. I've been in countries where the majority of the people in the country don't believe in a deity or they may be atheist. Or the majority of the country is Muslim. Or it may be the majority is much younger skewed. So when you look at all these differences, it's not that I'm to be the judge or the jury relative to right or wrong. Having said that, at McDonald's, there are core values we stand for and the world is getting much closer. So we have a lot of conversations. We're going to make some mistakes at times. (We talk) about things that may have an implication in one part of the world and may be the cultural norm in another part of the world. And those are things that, yes, we're going to learn from. But, you're right, that commercial won't show in the United States.

Well, guess what Don?
Christians can be gay.
Christians can have gay family members.
Christians can be accepting of gay people.
Except you, that is. I love that you say you don't impose your views on other people at the exact moment you are imposing your views on other people.
Ever think of going into politics, Don, because you speak out of both sides of your asshat better than most elected officials.
And since you speak for McDonald's, I would have to assume McDonald's doesn't like gay people. Makes me mad that I don't eat fast food because you can bet your ignorant ass I'd be boycotting Mickey D's from here on in. But I can, and will, suggest that people who do eat at McDonald's decide to spend they hard earned gay, and gay-friendly, dollars, somewhere else.
I am so not lovin' it.
I am so not lovin' it.

LOL. Me too. Almost enough to send me off to Burger King. (Oh and start the countdown until we get a spoof of Ronald McDonald and the Burger King sharing some love :-)
I have read his comment at least 10 times now and I still read it as a condemnation of America's issues with homosexuality and not his being a christian as the reason the ad won't air in America,
This made me laugh -

Well ... (sigh)
I'll be so glad when this is a non-issue. I don't understand all this.
I also wonder why the Live Traffic Feed thinks I'm from Kingston Springs when that's in another county.
What a douche!
No problem with boycotting McDonald's from me. I hate their food.
